Dr. Nicole Poulter

Dr. Nicole Poulter completed her doctoral program at William James College in Newton, MA. She earned her BM in Music Therapy with a minor in psychology from Berklee College of Music. As a music therapist, Dr. Poulter worked with individuals across the lifespan in settings such as hospitals, assisted living facilities and schools. She completed her predoctoral internship at the Dr. Leon O. Brenner Center for Psychological Assessment and Consultation in Newton, MA where she focused much of her training on conducting neuropsychological assessments for women and girls questioning diagnoses of autism, as well as comorbid eating disorders. Dr. Poulter also gained experience conducting assessments for ADHD, learning disorders, trauma and stressor related disorders, and emotional disorders with children, adolescents, and adults. She is completing her postdoctoral fellowship with children and adults here at Newton Neuropsychology Group.


While Dr. Poulter has spent much of her career working with children and families, she has developed a passion for working with young adults. Her training has gained her experience working in a variety of settings such as public schools, private practice, community mental health centers, conducting both neuropsychological assessments and therapy.

 

Dr. Poulter’s background and training have taught her that every individual is unique and therefore deserves a specially tailored approach. Her goal is to help clients better understand themselves and help them succeed while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. She believes the foundation to any successful assessment or therapeutic experience is a strong therapeutic relationship with both client, and family.
 

Dr. Poulter lives with her husband and son in Newton, MA. Dr. Poulter continues to hone her love of music by performing, and loves reading, baking and fitness.
