Emma Shaw

Hello everyone! My name is Emma Shaw and I am a current 4th year in the
clinical psychology PsyD program at William James College. I was born
and raised in Rhode Island. I earned my bachelor of science degree in
psychology at the University of Rhode Island with a minor in human
development and family science. During this time, I worked as a registered
behavior technician treating children and adolescents presenting with
autism spectrum disorder in both clinic and home-based settings. I also
spent time as an undergraduate research assistant working in the Child
Anxiety Program (CAP) at the University of Rhode Island. During this
period I also had the opportunity to work as an undergraduate intern at
Fellowship Health Resources in Cranston, RI gaining exposure to treatment
of adults with substance use disorder and other psychological comorbidities. After completion of my undergraduate studies, I began
pursuing my doctorate degree in clinical psychology at William James
College in Newton, MA with a focus in children and families. As a part of
my graduate training, I worked at Taunton Public Schools in Taunton, MA
administering and scoring neuropsychological tests, comprehensive report
writing, leading group therapy, and providing individual therapy for children and adolescents with high-risk behavioral concerns. I continued my training at the OCDI at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA administering diagnostic assessments, scoring, report writing, and exposure response prevention (ERP) to adult patients with OCD and related disorders at the residential level. In between clinical training, I worked as a part-time therapist administering ERP across the lifespan at CBTeam in Lexington, MA. My recent clinical training was at Bradley Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island on the Children’s Inpatient Unit (CIU). During my time here, I managed an individual therapy caseload, administered neuropsychological and psychological tests for children and adolescents, scored neuropsychological tests, completed a series of comprehensive reports, and led weekly cognitive behavioral group therapy.

I am passionate about working with children and families by providing
evidence-based services and administering neuropsychological

assessments. My professional interests include working with children
presenting with anxiety, OCD, depression, ADHD, neurodevelopmental
disorders, learning disorders, trauma/related disorders and many other
related areas of focus. I am currently working on my doctoral dissertation
examining the relationship between therapeutic alliance and client
satisfaction within pediatric obsessive compulsive disorder. My theoretical
orientation is based in cognitive behavioral therapy and practice. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, beach days, swimming, spin class, painting.
